The Legendary Starfy

The Starfy series is quite the interesting beast. The series totals five games in Japan, with the first 3 being for the Game Boy Advance, and the later 2 being on the Nintendo DS. Of these, only the 5th and final game was officially localized into English. Please don't ask me how that makes any sense!

When I was approached to assist with a translation of the original Starfy game into English, I was actually rather surprised that such a thing had not already been done. The series has somewhat of a cult following these days, bigger than StarTropics' yet smaller than EarthBound's. At least Starfy still gets referenced in games like Super Smash Bros., I suppose! Otherwise, as the series has not had a new game since 2009, it's unfortunately beginning to slowly slide into obscurity. Hopefully this translation will be able to change that!

While the English translation had been finished since 2019, there were unfortunately some other loose ends which needed to be tied up which were preventing the project from having a proper release. Some awesome people stepped forward in 2023 to get things done, and at long last you can now download the 100% complete English patch here!
